Christmas Vacation

We're back home and definitely missing the warm Florida weather! Here's a picture recap of our Christmas vacation. The plane rides there and back were uneventful, which I was very thankful for. Riley was an angel thanks to snacks and a portable DVD player!
First thing we did when we arrived was hop in the spool (spa+pool = spool)! Riley went in at least twice a day the entire time we were there.

The waterfall was a hit...Riley would cover his face and walk under it laughing the entire time!

Yup, the water makes Riley happy! We had to put the vest on him every time he went in because he was a little too fearless (he definitely doesn't get that from Mommy!).

After a nice long swim, there's nothing better than lunch!

Riley and Jace are goofballs...they both hopped in the towel basket and then Jace started to make animal sounds which is why he has a weird look on his face.

Nannie had all sorts of toys to trash the house with!

Jace tickling Riley and little Sawyer stuck in the middle as usual!

A goldfish break! Riley loves his "fishies" which he asked for every single morning for breakfast.

Making more messes which was a common theme throughout the trip!

Riley playing hungry hippos with his cousin, Landon.

Johnnie and Sawyer just chillin'.

Riley loved the raft...and the "goccer ball" (which is what every ball is now called).

Everyone wanted a picture with Sawyer because he's so darn cute and would smile every time he saw a camera...what a ham!

The kids had a blast playing in the pool...Jace, Riley, and cousins Landon, Brendan, and Ryan.

Riley loved Nannie's piano and would play lots of "masterpieces" for us.

A cute picture of the Souder boys!

On Christmas Eve morning, the big man made a special visit to Nannie and Pappy's house to pass out one present to all of the good boys in the house.
Jace was more than happy to give Santa a hug after receiving a tube of Pokemon.

Riley was a little more shy, of couse. No tears but he wasn't about to give Santa a hug like his big cousin did!

And then Santa and Mrs. Claus were off to the next house on their golf cart! The reindeer were resting up for that night's big activities!

Later that day the fire and police departments drove around the town handing out candy and Santa waved from inside the fire truck!

After a busy day, Jace and Riley were content to watch a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Nannie's computer.

A cute picture of Jace and cousin Johnny.

Who's cute? Me!!!!

On Christmas Eve, Nannie led the way and we went caroling to some of the houses in the neighborhood.

On Christmas Day we went over to Grandy and GrandPaul's house for dinner...Jace and Riley liked the jungle gym in the backyard.

We took Riley to the park almost every day...he kept running over to the big kid slides and Cody would take him up to the top and I would catch him at the bottom. I thought they were kind of fast and steep but Riley kept saying "Again!".

Nannie watched Riley while Mommy and Daddy checked out some movies at night...that gave Nannie and Riley a chance to have some bonding time in the spool. She also took Riley to the jetty and out to breakfast a couple of mornings so we could sleep in...he loved watching the boats and eating blueberry pancakes at the Lazy Loggerhead.

We took Riley to Harry and the Natives for breakfast one morning and the food took a while. Riley kept pointing to something on the table saying "That!" We finally figured out what he wanted...the jelly. Wonder where he learned that from -- Nannie! But at least it kept him quiet for a few minutes until our food arrived.

Riley loves to go "Up!" which is what he frequently asks Daddy for.

We took Riley to Busch Wildlife the day before we left. He was very interested in the snakes.

The bobcats were very active that morning...here's one staring us down!

Riley was very interested in the birds too. There were some pelicans splashing in the water and he kept asking, "What doing?"

Riley's favorite part was feeding the catfish and turtles!

We tried to get a picture of Riley and Nannie on our way out but Riley was his squirmy self and not cooperating. This was the best we could do...

We went to the Food Shack for our last dinner and we had to wait an hour for our table (yes, the food is that good to warrant the wait!). Needless to say, Riley was a little restless by the time we sat down...but leave it to technology to save the day. I pulled up Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on my new phone that Cody got me for Christmas and Riley was captivated!

So those are the highlights from our trip! We got a whole lot of family bonding time which is inevitable when you squish thirteen people into a two bedroom home!!! We had a great time and always look forward to being all together since it seems to happen less and less as we all get older.
