One of the activities we always do when we visit Nannie and Pappy in Florida is check out the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. The animals are rescued and nursed back to health...if appropriate, they are released back into the wild. In some cases, they cannot survive in the wild anymore so the sanctuary is their permanent home. The kids love to check out all the different animals...like turkeys!
And turtles!

And just so you know, a couple of quarters will help keep the kids busy feeding the turtles for quite a while!

Riley had an opportunity to pet an alligator...

Snake...ewwwwww!

And a sleeping possum.

Sully checking out the alligator.

Riley liked the bobcats.

The Florida panthers were found as illegal pets and had been de-clawed by the owners. Unfortunately, they cannot survive in the wild so they are permanent residents in the sanctuary. They were playful when we were there...wrestling and chasing each other.

A new addition to the sanctuary...bears!
