Today we had our first ever Parent-Teacher Conference with Ms. Becky. She had nothing but great things to say about Riley and how well he's doing in her class. She had a binder that was full of observations on Riley, his "art work", pictures and milestone charts that we got to look through. It was interesting to see how far he's progressed from when the observations started back in May 07 with things like, "Riley reached for a ball that rolled away from him" to the more recent observations, "Riley pushed a toy close to a book shelf so he could use it as a ladder to climb on." Cody and I expressed a little concern with his lack of talking (still waiting for that first word) but Ms. Becky said we have nothing to worry about. She said most of the "active" kids she has seen were a little late talking but caught up eventually. She said Riley is her climber so she has to keep a close eye on him but she loves to watch him explore and figure things out. And she always knows who's pulling on her pant leg when she's changing another child's diaper :) I guess the teachers have given each of the kids a "celebrity identity" based on their personalities. I was super happy with who they chose for Riley -- David Beckham! Riley is what they call "metro" because he dresses so well. And since he's always running and climbing, he's the athletic one in the room. And yes, Posh is in the class too...Riley and Lola are the Beckhams :)

I'm thinking David Beckham better watch out in a few years!
